Watch Web Video on the Big Screen
NewTeeVee returns to New York this fall for a special edition of our Pier Screenings series, and we're co-hosting with NY Video 2.0.

THEME
In honor of Advertising
Week, this month's theme is VIRAL ADS, by which we mean anything that
was made with the intention of getting a big online audience and
selling a product. In a departure from past events, we will be choosing
the shorts to be shown the event with the help of analytics firm
Visible Measures, which keeps track of the popularity of both online
ads themselves as well as the parodies and take-offs of them made by
fans. The live screening event will be held in New York City on September 23, 2008
from 8:30 - 10:30 PM.

What are NewTeeVee Pier Screenings?
The NewTeeVee Pier Screenings, a series of four summer events, bring together
content creators and online video aficionados in a casual setting.
These events are live tests of how well online video survives the move
from the PC to the gigantic screen, accompanied by entertaining
commentary from our judges and informative talks by relevant,
successful online video entrepreneurs. Past themes included episodic
content, parody, product placement and user-generated advertising, citizen news, pilots, and animation.
FOOD & DRINKS
We will provide some movie theater fare. (Think popcorn, beer and candy.)

The opportunity to watch, make, mash up and share online video is changing the nature of both entertainment and the Internet itself. NewTeeVee reports on the business of online video, monitoring the spread of broadband as it tears down traditional hierarchies that obstruct content creators from reaching their audiences. We cover everything from content delivery networks to next-generation media players, stupid cat videos to independent filmmakers, and venture-backed content startups to old guard media companies testing the online waters.
